OLLIE stands for

2019 Fun Run 2

Bedford Running Festival 2019

We were really excited and grateful to have a presence at this year’s Bedford running festival which OLLIE was a charity partner for. Thousands of eager runners took part in the 3-day festival which offered something for everyone, there was mini mile for kids, a twilight 10k and for those looking for a bigger challenge, a half marathon.

The event, which ran from Friday 30th to Sunday 1st September, delivered a variety of entertainment and stalls for families to enjoy which included an outdoor cinema, a yoga tent and plenty of food and drink to keep the crowd going. OLLIE were proud to display a stall which was manned by Amy along with two of our trustees, Helen and Jane, and wonderful volunteers whom we were extremely grateful for, in particular, Kieran who very kindly volunteered on both days for the entire duration we were there!

It was great to see so many families enjoying the day, some of whom stopped to say hello and take full advantage of the colouring and free games we had on offer. We think the bubble machines also helped!!

We spoke to some fantastic people and as ever, we were truly humbled to hear of peoples’ personal stories about suicide and how they have been affected by it. For us, being at events such as this is a great opportunity to hear your thoughts and opinions whilst spreading awareness about what we do. Most importantly it helps us get the message out there that with the right skills and training – SUICIDE IS PREVENTABLE.

Of course, we were also there to support all the amazing people who chose to run for OLLIE, one of whom was Graham Albans. Graham is the producer of The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show and decided to fundraise for us this year after hearing about our charity at the previous festival last Summer. He described how he chose OLLIE because of the work he does with young people and the significance of our work in relation to this. We were so pleased to meet so many of you, thank you to each and every one of you once again for the huge difference you have made by supporting The OLLIE Foundation.
