FLASH Training (10 Week Course)


10 week course  FLASH (Families Learning About Self Harm)  from 26th September 2019 – 5th December 2019 The course will run once a week on a Thursday (excluding half term)

In association with StEPs, OLLIE will be running this 10 week course which will run run once a week on a Thursday (excluding half term)

FLASH (Families Learning About Self Harm) Workshops are for parents, relatives and carers of young people AGED 11-17 who are exhibiting signs of self-harm (including, cutting, branding, hair pulling, self-poisoning, ingestion of non-food items and risk-taking behaviour).

FLASH Courses provide the opportunity to discuss the problem of self- harm with professionals and other parents and carers. In doing so, you will learn more about the issues involved and learn how to better manage concerns you may have at home.

The course covers:

  1. Exploring what self-harm is and what the risks are
  2. Listening skills
  3. How to build self-esteem skills
  4. Managing self-harm within the family environment
  5. The impact of self-harm on parenting
  6. Managing stressful circumstances
  7. Coping strategies for parents and carers
Course cost is £7.50 per session or £75 for whole 10 weeks (normal cost £200, first course subsidised by OLLIE)
