Plan Safe

A truly valuable foundation for anyone interested in learning how to use a Safe Plan or Prescription Safe Plan – particularly useful for those who are supporting someone who is starting, changing or tapering antidepressants.

An abridged version of this is also covered in Talk Safe, Plan Safe however, this stand-alone workshop supports delegates to explore why Safe Plans are a proven and effective way to offer support, as a professional or until professional help becomes available, as well as in-between appointments or contact sessions.

During this workshop, delegates will create their own Safe Plan as a means of learning how to help someone else create one. This workshop goes beyond theory, allowing you to actively participate in the Safe Plan creation process.

Talk explores:

  • what a safe-plan is and why they are effective

  • how solution-focused conversation with goal-setting can support someone in an emotional crisis (including suicidal ideation) to stay safe for now

  • how to use and create a dynamic Safe Plan

  • how to extend the Safe-plan for those starting, using, or tapering from antidepressants.

Delegates will:

  • learn a practical process, used all over the world in suicide intervention and prevention – the art of compassionately assisting someone in distress, to create a safe physical and emotional environment and Safe Plan document that will support them to stay safe for now especially if they are going to be on their own at any point

  • leave with their own, personalised and completed Safe Plan

  • feel better able and prepared to use a Safe Plan and extend support to others in need.

I feel approaching suicide is such a challenging topic but if you take it step by step and talk through a safe plan with relevant signposting it has the difference to change someone’s life.

The course ,information from the slides were brilliant so there for the course ticked all the boxes for an informative course with aids that can be used to help myself, my children & the wider community.
