REACH

OLLIE’s REACH is a compassionate and practical suicide prevention talk designed to help you feel more confident to reach in when someone may be struggling and respond with care, clarity and hope. This talk introduces a clear, memorable framework, REACH, that supports everyday conversations about suicide in a way that is safe, human and grounded in real life.

It’s suitable for all ages from 17yrs and especially useful for parents and carers, schools, universities, workplaces, community groups and organisations who want to build understanding without overwhelm.

REACH stands for:

Ready to respond

Engage with care

Ask directly

Connect to support

Hope and Recovery

The talk is designed as a doorway into suicide prevention. It explores the difference between mental health and mental illness, the complexities surrounding suicidal ideation, and the communities who may be at increased risk. The session aims to reduce the stigma and fear around having difficult conversations, encourage the use of compassionate and supportive language and empower people to take small but meaningful actions when you notice someone may be struggling.

You can watch OLLIE’s REACH now, or book a live online session delivered by Maria Nastri and Jo Cakmak, including a 15-minute Q&A.

  • understand how to respond with empathy and care

  • know how to ask direct questions safely
